Great high quality patrol patch, careful with button loop

Posted by M Spencer, Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council on 9th Jul 2015

We purchased these patches for use at a Scout camp where we set up patrols for the week as we had scouts from many different troops coming together for just a week. These are very high quality patches that were perfect for this purpose as you can simply hang them from the pocket on the scout uniforms. I was very pleased with the large size and superior quality and detail on the patches. My only complaint is that on newer scout uniforms the buttons are below the pocket flap and for most uniform types the buttons there don't have a slot for the button to slide into, ie, they exist solely for the purpose of hanging patches. This means that the patches hang freely from the button. The loop on this patch meant for hanging from the button is rather large so as a result, the patches can fall off fairly easily so we ended up with about 15% of the patches being lost on the first day by the younger scouts. After we figured out what was happening, we re-attached all the patches by twisting the patch once it was on the button and then doubling the patches button loop around the scout uniform button so that is was wrapped around the button twice. This seemed to stop the patches from falling off. My suggestion would be to use an elastic string for the button loop that is much smaller than the current loop which is why I am giving it a 4 star rating and not a 5 star. Despite this short coming, we liked the patches so much we ordered replacements for all the lost patches and will continue to use these patches as the boys thought they were awesome.
