This guy may look a bit funny with a feather on his head, but quails are pretty smart! In cold weather they form a large group and gather in a circle with their backs towards each other. Not only do they stay warm and cozy, but they can keep an eye out for predators in every direction! This patch shows a brown quail with lots of black and white features, and a long black feather on top of his head.
